PUBLIC WORKS
SEASONAL & PART-TIME POSITIONS

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the operation, maintenance and improvement of City property, facilities, equipment. 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for the varied maintenance tasks for City grounds, equipment, and facilities.  Works as a member of a crew on public grounds maintenance projects; may work independently, to include golf course, parks and other City properties.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Maintenance Staff.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:  (For illustrative purposes only.)
    1.    Must be able to safely operate and provide daily maintenance to a wide variety of equipment, including mowers, greens mowers,
            tractors, and a variety of hand equipment, familiarity with golf course equipment beneficial;
    2.    Ensures the security of all City property and equipment installed or maintained;
    3.    Follows procedures to insure the personal safety of the public and City employees;
    4.    May work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings;
    5.    Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

EXPERIENCE: 
Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to attain the key performance requirements is required.

ABILITY TO: 
Work as a member of a group and independently with a minimum of supervision; train or otherwise share expertise with other employees; perform physical labor in frequent adverse weather conditions; sufficiently perform the physical requirements of the classification; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; make efficient use of maintenance tools (hand and power); perform effective written and oral communication to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the general public.

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Must be physically capable of working in adverse weather conditions; must be capable of heavy lifting, frequent twisting, pushing/pulling, manual dexterity, stooping, sitting, reaching above shoulder level, sitting and operating mowers/tractors for extended periods of time.  Must be able to work out of doors the majority of time regardless of weather conditions.

Police Department
RECORDS/PROPERTY-EVIDENCE COORDINATOR


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:    Maintains and processes records and forms in support of the Police Department; receipts, stores and maintains chain of custody for legal evidence; does related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:          An employee in this classification is responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of the Police Department requiring familiarity with departmental operations, policies, procedures and terminology.  Work is performed under the supervision of a police commander.  The incumbent is expected to work with considerable independence on routine assignments; however, instructions and/or assistance are available for new or unusual assignments.  Supervision is not normally a responsibility of positions in this classification.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:    (Illustrative only.  An employee in this class may perform any or all duties listed.  These examples do not, however, include all tasks which the employee may be expected to perform within this class.)

1.    Processes and enters officer reports; prepares and distributes copies to appropriate individuals and/or agencies with necessary attachments, such as driving records and computerized criminal history.
2.    Prepares Oregon Uniform Crime Reports (OUCR), summary reports and monthly activity reports.
3.    Prepares Copies of police reports for insurance companies and for the general public; receipts monies and mails copies as necessary.
4.    Prepares and maintains related police files, records and information; performs criminal record checks.
5.    Enters warrants from municipal, and circuit courts into computer; returns warrant to appropriate court after it has been served.
6.    Receipts, stores, releases and maintains necessary records of legal evidence and property in accordance with proper handling and storage requirements; testifies in court regarding the chain of custody and handling of evidence as necessary.
7.    Answers routine and technical questions from the general public regarding departmental policies, procedures and services.
8.    Answers phones, directs calls and takes messages; types letter, memos, complaint, etc.   

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
   
KNOWLEDGE OF:   Considerable knowledge of different filing systems including alphabetical, numerical and chronological; business English, spelling and punctuation; general office practices and procedures.  Knowledge of the operation, policies, procedures and terminology of law enforcement.

ABILITY TO:  Organize, file and retrieve materials and documents; deal with the public courteously and tactfully; establish priorities and organize own workload; retrieve data from records and arrange it for reporting purposes; deal effectively with frequent interruptions.

SKILL IN:   The operation of standard office equipment, including the operation of a computer to update/access files; typing.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:    High School graduation or equivalency;   Knowledge of acceptable methods of evidence room procedures (certification preferred).  The applicant for this position should have working knowledge of the LEDs system (Law Enforcement Data Systems) as the Records Coordinator is the LEDs Representative for the Department. Required police records and evidence experience.

CURRENT PAY SCHEDULE:    $2569-3279/mo
