 Current Vacancies

Planning Commission - The City is seeking applications for two positions on the Cottage Grove Planning Commission.  The applicants are sought to serve two three-year terms expiring December 31, 2017.  The deadline for submitting applications is Noon on Friday, November 14, 2014. The Commissioners are appointed by the City Council.  The Planning Commission meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings.  Applications are available in the Community Development Office at City Hall or online above.    For further information please contact the Community Development Department at 942-3340.

Historic Landmark Commission - The City is seeking applications for two positions on the Cottage Grove Historic Landmarks Commission.  The applicants are sought to serve two three-year terms expiring December 31, 2017.  The deadline for submitting applications is Noon on Friday, November 14, 2014. The Commissioners are appointed by the City Council.  The Historic Landmarks Commission meets once a month in the evening as needed.  Applicants must have a demonstrated positive interest, knowledge, or competence in historic preservation.  Applications are available in the Community Development Office at City Hall or online above.    For further information please contact the Community Development Department at 942-3340.

Budget Committee - The City is seeking applications for five open positions on the Cottage Grove Budget Committee.  Two applicants are sought to serve two-year terms expiring December 31, 2016 and three applicants are sought to serve three-year terms expiring December 31, 2017.   The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014.  Interviews will be conducted by a Council sub-committee and appointment by the City Council will be made on December 8, 2014.  Application forms are available in the City Manager’s Office in City Hall, 400 Main Street, (541)942-5501 during regular business hours or online above. 
 
The Budget Committee reviews the City’s financial plans and policies, including the annual budget. The 14 member Committee is comprised of the Mayor and six elected City Councilors and seven members from the community. Appointed by the City Council, each of the Committee’s seven community members must be a qualified elector (a registered voter and live within the city limits).  Meetings are typically held between April and June, but the committee may also meet on an “as needed” basis.  For additional Information contact Roberta Olsen, Finance Director at (541)942-3346.

Audit Committee - The City is seeking applications for two open positions on the Audit Committee.  The terms will be for two years, expiring December 2016.  The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014.  Interviews will be conducted by a Council sub-committee and appointment by the City Council will be made on December 8, 2014.  Application forms are available in the City Manager’s Office in City Hall, 400 Main Street, (541)942-5501 during regular business hours or online above.

The Audit Committee acts in an advisory capacity to the governing body.  The Audit Committee meets with the City’s Auditor and reviews the annual Comprehensive Audit and Financial Report.   The members of the Audit Committee should collectively possess expertise and experience in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting needed to understand and resolve issues raised by the independent audit of the financial statements.   The five-member Committee is comprised of the two elected City Councilors and three members from the community.   Meetings are typically held between January and March, but the committee may also meet on an “as needed” basis.  For additional Information contact Roberta Olsen, Finance Director at (541)942-3346.

Urban Forestry Committee - The City of Cottage Grove is seeking applicants to serve on the Urban Forestry Committee.  Two positions expire at the end of this year and the Council is taking applications for those positions.  The committee is an advisory committee to the City regarding the community’s urban forest and makes recommendations regarding the development and improvement of the urban forest.  Committee positions will be appointed by the City Council.  The Urban Forestry Committee meets once a month in the evening.  People interested in applying for this position need to complete the Volunteer Appointment Application available at the Community Center/Library, City Hall or online above.  The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, November 21st at 5:00 pm. Vision Keepers Committee -  The City of Cottage Grove is seeking applications from interested persons who would like to serve a two year term as an “at-large” member of the Vision Keepers Committee (two positions available).  Applicants will be interviewed and then confirmed by the Cottage Grove City Council.  The role of the Vision Keepers is to monitor progress of the Cottage Grove 2037 Vision Action Plan, encourage implementation of actions, provide technical assistance or support where appropriate, produce annual progress reports, and recommend minor modifications to the plan as necessary. The Vision Keepers will hold quarterly team progress meetings, and will develop annual awards to recognize individuals or organizations for exceptional service toward promoting achievement of the Cottage Grove 2037 Action Plan.  Applications are available at City Hall, the Cottage Grove Public Library and online above. NOTICE OF BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING
AND PUBLIC HEARING

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the City of Cottage Grove, Lane County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015 will be held in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 400 Main Street.  The meeting will take place on the 27th day of May 2014 at 6:30 p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget.  A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 400 Main Street, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place.  Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee.

The meeting will also include a public hearing to discuss possible uses of state revenue sharing funds.
