Municipal Jail

The City of Cottage Grove Municipal Jail has a total of eight jail cells.  These cells are used to house persons awaiting arraignment as well as those who have already been sentenced.  Each cell can hold two inmates, but are most often single occupancy.  Two other cells are used as temporary holding cells for persons pending release or transport to another facility.

The Police dispatcher monitors video and audio feeds from each cell on multiple displays located in the communications center.  Dispatchers also coordinate hourly safety/security checks on the inmates, then log the inspections on a daily activity record.

Inmates are provided with three dietician-approved meals per day, which are prepared and served by police department operations staff.  The jail also has a library of donated reading materials from which the inmates may choose.

Inmate visitations are permitted on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm. There is a maximum of thirty (30) minutes per inmate and depends on officers' availability.
